The project “Cars e Value in SP” is coordinated by Prof. Gabriel Feltran and has a team of 11 researchers. The multimethod research seeks to describe the operation of the legal-illegal car market, starting from SP. The project's objectives are: a) to verify what roles legal and illegal actors play in regulating these markets, even when it is violent; b) to dimension these markets and the participation of illegal economies in legal markets; c) to demonstrate mechanisms of production and reproduction of urban inequalities inscribed in the legal-illegal economies of the automobile. The specialized literature has almost not addressed the topic yet, giving the project an original and potentially comparative dimension. Until 2020 the research integrated CEPID CEM / USP, which studies the mechanisms of production and reproduction of contemporary urban inequalities.
